In 1999 London, physicist Michael Kearny and his colleague, Brian Tate, work out quantum computations that will, in the future, lead to faster-than-light space travel. Meanwhile, Kearny also commits various murders in an effort to escape the Shrander, a mysterious entity from which Kearny stole a pair of precognitive dice. In the future, a starship captain regrets merging her body with that of the ship she hijacked, particularly since the ship's true owners are anxious to recover their property. Also in the future, thrill-seeker Ed Chianse retreats into virtual reality while evading loan sharks. These seemingly disparate storylines all meet at an artificially-constructed black hole. This British SF exploration of the nature of space, time, and humanity won the 2002 Tiptree Award.

Possibly the best of the universally excellent films produced by the American Film Theatre, producer Ely Landau's program that allowed moviegoers to subscribe to film versions of classic plays, Peter Hall's THE HOMECOMING is a magnificent adaptation of Harold Pinter's play. In it, a successful philosophy professor named Teddy (Jayston) braces himself to return to his North London home for the first time in nine years to introduce his wife Ruth (Merchant) to his family. Unfortunately, this family consists of an assortment of abusives and miscreants that make the atmosphere very uncomfortable for Teddy and turns his wife into the catalyst for a multitude of conflicts.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 1.85Additional Release Material: Interview - 1. Set your decor apart from the crowd with Worldstock's handmade Chinese Crane Dance tapestry.
This Batik tapestry is hand-painted using the ancient 'La Ran' technique. Known contemporarily as the 'wax dye' technique, this ancient art form hails from the southwestern regions of China. It involves applying wax on hand-woven fabric to prevent certain areas from absorbing the dye. As the process is repeated, an intricate pattern begins to emerge.
The Crane Dance tapestry features a young girl playing her flute in a bamboo forest as majestic cranes dance to the music. The piece is double-backed for additional strength and stability and features a loop on top for the insertion of a hanging rod.
Each Worldstock product is a unique creation from a far away culture. By shopping with us you are helping perpetuate ancient traditions and providing a source of income for communities in need.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design, color and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
